About the Item
This contemporary pop art portrait, created by French artist Natalya Mougenot, stands as a unique piece in her collection. Painted in striking blue tones, it was directly inspired by a visit to the Andy Warhol
Jean-Michel Basquiat exhibition at the Louis Vuitton Fondation in Paris (April–August 2023). The exhibition deeply impressed Natalya, offering insight into the lives and destinies of these two iconic 20th-century artists. Moved by their collaboration and friendship, she immediately set to work on this painting, seeking to celebrate their bond through her art.
Executed in oil paints on heavyweight linen canvas (400g), this portrait captures the essence of Warhol and Basquiat through expressive brush strokes and textured palette knife work. The edges of the canvas are painted in black, giving the piece a modern, clean finish. Natalya's use of texture and vibrant color brings their characters and personalities to life in a truly unique way.
The painting is sold unframed.

About the Artist:
Natalya Mougenot, born in Pavlodar, Kazakhstan, in 1981, is a contemporary French artist who has lived in Lyon, France, since 2003. Raised in a multicultural environment during the Soviet era, Mougenot’s diverse cultural influences have played a key role in shaping her artistic vision. What began as a therapeutic outlet for personal struggles evolved into an exploration of themes like women’s empowerment, modern identity, and resilience. Known for her bold and emotional works, Mougenot blends abstraction, nature, and florals to express the complexities of contemporary life. Her unique style, often influenced by art brut and naive art, engages viewers both emotionally and visually.
Mougenot’s artwork is held in private collections worldwide, and her instantly recognizable style, marked by expressive brushstrokes and a powerful use of color, invites viewers to connect with the world through her transformative perspective.
Natalya is a contemporary artist from Lyon, France. She was born and grew up in Kazakhstan, the country known for its spacious steppes and low mountains. She arrived in France 2003. Since that moment she loves her adoptive country. She started painting in 2017 and used it as a therapeutic and emotional release during times of crisis when she was struggling with radical life changes. She incorporates this therapeutic approach in her artistic creative process till now. Several years ago painting became more than a hobby. It became a way of expressing her emotions and visions, a successive reaction to events of either personal or general concern. Her artist statement: “ I paint as it’s a necessity for my soul to express itself. Being creative for me is overcoming the restrictions. My art is a piece of my soul. I hope my art inspires reflection, provides a release and forms connection at other people’s souls”. She has developed her own vision of art through practicing a lot. She makes use of varying degrees of figuration, abstraction and impressionism by adding a contemporary twist. Abstract art for her is an interesting challenge for understanding inner feelings, a self-expression based on an intuitive approach. In figurative art her main subject remains women. Her artworks representing women contain the raw emotions of women. She also communicates the importance and the power of strong female relationships: “Women are enriched when they bond with each other”. She works in series: among them are "Heart-mind connection" of abstract artworks, "Women", "Bond", "Florals", "Springtime"... She uses various mediums ( acrylic, oil, watercolor, oil pastels) to create her unique artworks either on canvas or on paper. But she mainly uses acrylic as she works very quickly and expressively by finishing her artwork in one sitting. If Natalya had to pick one quote about her art, she would say : " Art is the reflection of the soul". Natalya goes with her gut and intuition to choose the colors, the lines, the shapes and the texture. She hopes her artworks will give a home a unique personality by filling it with life and color. Her sources of inspirations are Claude Monet, Paul Cezanne, Henri Matisse, George-Daniel de Monfreid, Paul Gauguin. She also admires the artworks of Joan Mitchell and Banksy.

Pancho Malezanov’s wild cars have broken into the Art moorhouse gallery- London!
I have read that designers strive to give character to cars, often inspired by nature - sometimes their headlights look like the eyes of an owl or an eagle, grills snarling predatorily like shark’s teeth, the body curved like a purring kitten orsleek like a hungry tiger ... not to mention the many horses under the bonnet ...
It is this nature of cars, including some of the most expensive and vintage brands, that artist Pancho Malezanov unveils his new series "(Auto) portraits".
First of all, because he has experience with painting animals and knows their desires well. Secondly, because he sees their characters embodied in metal, leather and glass. The result is futuristic – a car, yet behind the windows, the character of a powerful untamed beast is revealed. Not always, of course.
How can you not trust a brand whose radiator grill is colored like a rainbow, whose multicolored lights wink at you, all stemming from Malezanov’s imagination. He has managed to turn the car into a living creature who prowls around the urban jungle.
You will stand up and pay attention after seeing such a car. And you’ll be sorry that you drive a boring black or white machine. No problem – simply listen and take inspiration on how to bring colour to your life and to your car from this exhibition. If you do not want to take a risk with an insanely expensive classic brand, at least you can hang up your own Malezanovartwork on your wall and lift your mood by how he intertwines technique with technology, combining the flamboyant cars with detailed backstories and turns them into colorful toys for a grown boy’s room.
Mila Vacheva – "24 Hours" newspaper
The prominent art critic Maximilian Kirov writes about the author:
..."As an artist Pancho Malezanov always prefers to interact with nature directly, but it is difficult to call him a landscape artist in the exact meaning of the term. He is not interested in particular details, but prefers to unite the entire scenery through a randomly situated point of view, which does not take into account the horizon line or the static position from which each natural object is seen. This point of view almost always has a peculiar “bird’s plan view”, which allows him to contemplate a panoramic scene. This is a “bird’s eye vision...
