About the Item

“Currency #200” is a circular portrait in acrylic on wood depicting a Latin female figure painted in cobalt and ultramarine tones against a luminous orange background. The inscription around the edge reads in Spanish: “Lo que sé, todo lo que he vivido no sirve para nada aquí, como si todo…” (“All that I know, all I’ve lived, serves for nothing here, as if everything…”). This fragment of thought encapsulates the dislocation and quiet irony that accompany the experience of migration, where knowledge and identity must be constantly redefined. Part of Natasha Lelenco’s acclaimed Currencies series, this work transforms the familiar form of the coin into a poetic object of reflection. Each “currency” becomes both portrait and statement, questioning the systems that assign value—economic, social, and emotional—to human life. Painted with layered brushwork and subtle textural reliefs, the artwork combines figurative clarity with conceptual depth. Executed in acrylic on treated pine wood, varnished for protection and ready to hang, this collectible piece functions beautifully as a single wall accent or within multi-panel installations. The series invites collectors to compose modular constellations of portraits, each one a different face and language within the shared narrative of belonging and difference. For multiple acquisitions or custom compositions, collectors are encouraged to get in touch to receive special pricing and tailored installation guidance. We operate globally with the same attention and proximity extended to every collector. Each acquisition is handled with professionalism and care, ensuring full satisfaction throughout the process. As a small, specialist team with a deep commitment to art, we personally oversee the selection of every artist and piece, presenting a curated collection to an international audience from our corner of the Atlantic coast. Celebrating our common colors as well as our diversity is Linden Godlove’s latest series of encaustics, “The Muses.” The paintings are modeled after icons, with a direct gaze that hearkens a response to their spirit, to find company in their character. This particular piece is the "Muse of Confidence" and is part of a set of nine that are sold separately from one another. Encaustic painting is an ancient art form (some early icons are encaustic), where hot wax is mixed with pigment and resin, and painted while liquid. Throughout the process, everything is repeatedly fused with fire and sometimes things melt in an unintended direction. Linden’s process involves repeatedly carving parts out and filling them back in, so the works are splayed out in a loose application of hot liquid, then cut back, then washed over with brushes of hot wax again. It’s a combination of chaos and control. The series draws inspiration from women all over the globe, as originally photographed by Mihaela Noroc for her book The Atlas of Beauty. A portion of the proceeds from these sales will go towards her project. While internationally influenced, the pieces were painted, scraped, and carved at the artist’s hundred year old Detroit...
