About Artist
Oyindamola Oyekemi Oyewumi, a self-taught realistic ballpoint pen artist, was born and currently resides in Oyo state, Nigeria. Although her educational background lies in pure and applied chemistry, having obtained her B.Tech degree from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, her true passion lies in the world of art.
For the past seven years, Oyindamola has dedicated herself to honing her artistic skills and exploring various mediums. It was her fascination with ballpoint pens as a tool for creating intricate and detailed artwork that led her to specialize in this unique and challenging technique.
Oyindamola's artworks exhibit a remarkable level of realism, capturing the essence and intricate details of her subjects with stunning precision. Her dedication to mastering the ballpoint pen medium has allowed her to create highly detailed and visually captivating pieces of art.
One of the significant milestones in Oyindamola's artistic journey occurred on March 18, 2021, when she created a portrait of Charles Hoskinson, the prominent entrepreneur and co-founder of Ethereum. The portrait gained widespread recognition when it was showcased in one of Hoskinson's tweets, eventually leading to its sale as a Non-Fungible Token (NFT) for an impressive sum of $6300. This breakthrough not only marked a significant achievement for Oyindamola but also introduced her to the world of NFTs, where digital art is increasingly gaining prominence.
