About the Item
This interesting British Post Impressionist portrait oil painting is by noted female artist Pauline Glass. Painted circa 1950 it is a generous head and shoulders of a lady dressed in blue against a blue background. The bold Post Impressionist brushwork and impasto are superb. This is a great 1950's oil painting and an excellent example of her work.
Signed upper right.
Provenance. Artist's estate.
Condition. Oil on canvas, 24 inches by 20 inches and in good condition.
Frame. Housed in a frame with slip, 30 inches by 26 inches and in good condition.
Pauline Glass (1908-1992) - Birmingham born artist who studied at the world famous Juliens Art Academy, Brussels, Belgium and at the Birmingham College of Art. She was a member of the RBS and exhibited throughout her life including at the Society of Women Artists, The Royal Academy and at the prestigious New England Art Club. She lived and worked in the Birmingham area all her life.
