Robert Roujas was born on January 6, 1908. Entering the French Administration in 1927, this civil servant graduated from the École du Louvre, which speaks volumes about the background of general and human culture he had already accumulated. He was an informed music lover and a talented painter, and had the privilege of working with Yves Brayer.
Having made a career in the French postal service, Robert Roujas, in addition to his professional and cultural activities, also demonstrates undeniable sporting qualities. Passionate about rugby, thanks to his Ariège origins, he practiced this sport at a high level until later becoming an international referee.
His courage and civility were among his most notable qualities.
During the Second World War, he was demobilized after the Battle of Dunkirk. He will be arrested and imprisoned by the militia. Succeeding in escaping, he manages to reach Algeria and participates in the Italian campaign, where he is injured. He ended the war as a commander.
After a rich life spent in Nîmes, southern France, Robert Roujas passed away on January 11, 2000.
