Julius Friedrich Antonio Schrader (1815–1900) was a German painter known for his portraits and history paintings. A prominent figure of the Düsseldorf School of painting, Schrader was a respected artist and professor at the Berlin Academy.
Art Style and Influences
Schrader began his training at the Berlin Academy before studying at the Düsseldorf Academy under Wilhelm Schadow. He traveled extensively throughout Europe, visiting Italy, England, the Netherlands, and Belgium. During these travels, he was particularly influenced by the work of the Flemish and Belgian colorists, such as Peter Paul Rubens and Anthony van Dyck. His art is known for its dramatic and theatrical style, often featuring historical figures and biblical scenes with rich, vibrant colors.
Friedrich Anton Schrader (June 16, 1815, Berlin – February 16, 1900) was a painter of the Düsseldorf School.
He attended the Berlin Academy from 1830 to 1832. He continued his studies at the Düsseldorf Academy from 1837 to 1844.
