About the Item
A fine portrait attributed to the German artist Franz Seraph von Lenbach (1836-1904). Using his favoured technique, the Venetian method, Lenbach has rendered the figure in rich depth and detail. Unsigned. Provenance: Acquired with another signed work by the same hand. To the reverse remains part of an old label, detailing the artist's name and birth year. Well presented in a gilt frame. On canvas laid to board.
