In a warm room a man leans against a bar whilst gazing over his shoulder with curiosity and smoking on his impressive-looking pipe. He has a calm expression on his face, which is enveloped by a large beard and even larger brimmed hat. Presented in an ornately detailed gilt-effect frame. Signed and dated in the lower right-hand corner. On canvas on stretchers.
