A striking early 20th Century oil scene showing a darkened interior, with a king and queen, in classical Roman style togas. A child kneels before them on a bed in a dynamic pose, adding much movement to the scene. The king holds the queen's hand and places a hand on her shoulder, as if comforting her. The artist shows a confident style, not dissimilar to that of The Bloomsbury Group. The painting is unsigned and presented in a fine 20th Century oak frame with card mount. On wove.
