About the Item

A beautifully staged portrait depicting a woman poised with her arm resting on the back of a chair. She wears a black dress with a deep lace collar and a brooch. The larger petticoats and overskirts are suggestive of the fashions of the later 19th century, around the 1870s. Before her is a fine end table with a silver urn and book placed upon it. Unsigned. Finely presented in a gilt frame with On canvas. Image size: 60 x 45cm.
