About the Item
A fine mid 19th century portrait by the artist Rudolf Tanner (1781-1853) depicting an elegant lady in a lace-trimmed dress with a fur stole draped around her shoulders. Pictured clad in gold and glittering jewels, the lady exudes wealth and status. The artist has captured her fair skin and rosy cheeks in great tonal detail, whilst exquisite brushwork is evident throughout. Beautifully presented in a substantial gilt frame. The canvas has been relined, however a note from the restorer (attached to the stretchers verso) confirms that the artwork is signed and dated to the original canvas. On canvas on stretchers.
