About the Item

American Realist Willard Dixon, long admired for his sweeping Western skies and luminous waters, took a surprising and beautiful turn in 2021. He created a small series of life-size portraits on cut 1/4 inch wood panels. Each figure hangs a few inches from the wall, and the natural cast shadows give the sense of a real person standing in the room. The piece hangs from a single hook, which is included. RWDSU Union Man appears in a red shirt, blue jeans and work boots. The work measures 70 1/4 by 27 by 3 inches. In the gallery he brings a steady and watchful presence to the space. Visitors (and staff) often think he is an actual person, which speaks to the remarkable realism that makes Willard Dixon’s work so beloved. Proudly presented by Andra Norris Gallery in California
