About the Item
An air of femininity is expressed in this dress painting on art board, capturing a nostalgic nod to timeless glamour. Delicate detail (with a hint of shimmer) blends with a textured, tone-on-tone damask pattern in the background. Loose brushstrokes create a gentle movement that feels both expressive and refined. Protected by glass, the beautifully detailed custom frame enhances the piece, making a statement of refined elegance.
This is No. 1 from a series of four.

Andrea Stajan-Ferkul is a Canadian artist whose work conveys a sense of experimentation through the use of paint, fabric collage and abstract mark-making. While not exclusive to fashion, dresses have been a compositional focus throughout her oeuvre. With an emphasis on timelessness, her series of dress paintings shift between realistic representation and interpretive impressions. In contrast, her series of abstract works embrace minimalism, considerate to a restrained palette and composition.
Stajan-Ferkul began her career in fashion advertising before shifting her focus to fine art in 2000. Her work has been exhibited widely through galleries and art fairs, and hangs in private and public collections across Canada, US and Europe. A graduate of Sheridan College of Art and Design, Stajan-Ferkul's paintings can be found in numerous public and private collections, her work has been published in magazines and book covers, and prints are distributed internationally. In 2009, Stajan-Ferkul was invited to exhibit her work in Ottawa’s Rideau Hall, hosted by (then) Governor General of Canada, Michaëlle Jean.

"The Ballerina" Figure with Chanel Gown French Haute Couture Oil Canvas Painting
By Cindy Shaoul
Located in New York, NY
Exploring the purity of the feminine form and the drama of French haute couture, artist Cindy Shaoul creates a dialogue between the figurative and the abstract. Her spirited compositions are both dramatic and invigorating, capturing the fleeting moment of innocence swept up in bold color and seemingly controlled movement. "The Ballerina" demonstrates a whimsical expression of femininity and formality; a stunning display of understated grandeur. It is as if the shape's only purpose is to hold the magnificent pallet. This piece is signed lower left by the artist and is painted oil and on canvas and it comes housed in a contemporary white floater wood...
