"Something Changed" is an original piece by Branche Coverdale from his "Slice of Life" series. He hand-crafts the specific panel shape to his city vignettes. This piece measures 24"h x 36"w and comes with a gallery-issued Certificate of Authenticity.
"This collection of seven works draws directly from my daily walks around the city. Observing the streets and their constantly shifting energy, I gather fragments of what I see—snapshots of life—and weave them into my images. The process feels like creating a collage, layering narrative elements in a way that remains open and exploratory.
In these paintings, I leaned toward abstraction, focusing more on assembling images and seeing how they evolve into the final work. My aim wasn’t strict storytelling but rather to evoke a feeling—an atmosphere of contemplation. Walking through the city, I experience a multitude of fleeting moments. I distill my impressions into elements that linger in my mind, translating them into paintings that reflect the quieter moments of urban life." –Branche Coverdale
Branche Coverdale is an artist based in Philadelphia. Originally from Yonkers, New York, Branche works in an expressive and playful manner inspired from silkscreen methods he acquired during his time at Rhode Island School of Design, seamlessly combining cartoons, pop culture, and his experiences in major cities in his playful and vibrant art. In particular, he traveled between New York and Japan for years as a studio assistant for Takashi Murakami. He celebrates the fusion of these influences, exploring themes such as city life, representation, and the blurred lines between reality and fiction, using iconic symbols that have shaped our collective consciousness. He is currently working as a full time illustrator as well as working in painting and fine arts.
