About the Item
Blushing Roses is a cozy bouquet of roses tucked into a
glass vase with dark green foliage to offset their lushness. Their delicate
bell-shaped petals seem to be ringing in summer. Roses symbolize love,
beauty, royalty and the thorns on their stems are the price paid for their
loveliness.
Artist Carole Garland channels traditional floral painters while bringing a
modern take on the blushing roses. The painting is an
expressionist/impressionist floral outburst of pink and white roses. The
work seems as
fresh as the flowers. It is painted with a gusto but Garland preserves the
delicacy of their loveliness.
Carole Garland has shown in numerous Southern California venues, most
recently at TAG Gallery,
Bergamot Station, Santa Monica; realART Gallery, Agoura Hills; the Gallery
at West Los Angeles College;
Topanga Canyon Gallery; the Rose Cafe, Venice, CA; the Santa Paula Art

Carole Garland
Carole Garland, born and raised in Chicago, graduated from Knox College, Galesburg, Ill., She studied figure drawing and oil painting at the Art Institute of Chicago and the University of the Americas, Mexico City. After moving to Los Angeles she studied privately with Keith Finch, Venice. Concurrent with her art pursuits, Garland worked as a magazine editor, publicist, director's assistant, book editor, and sales executive. After a brief hiatus from painting, she looked to the outdoors for inspiration and began plein air watercolor studies with Don Blaisdell, UCLA.
