In this painting, Artist Carole Garland captures the flower fun, the lavish display of color and the extraordinary beauty of nature.
The zinnia is a long-stemmed flower with delicate petals offering up bright, saturated colors, ranging from shocking chartreuse and vibrant yellows to soft lilac and deep rich reds and crushing purples. The arrangement of flower petals varies from one layer to an exquisite multi-layered dome.
Fine artist Carole Garland discovered their beauty growing in pots in her very own garden. The bountiful array of primary colors was an every day explosion of delight and she said she couldn't wait to paint them. The Alla Prima (completed in one session) painting on a wood panel is 16"x20".
Carole Garland has shown in numerous Southern California venues, most recently at TAG Gallery, Bergamot Station; realART Gallery, Agoura Hills; the Gallery at West Los Angeles College; Rose Cafe, Venice; the Santa Paula Art Museum and Channel Islands Gallery. She has served on the boards of Allied Artists of the Santa Monica Mountains
Seashore and TAG Gallery and on the Associate Artists Committee of the California Art Club.

Carole Garland
Carole Garland, born and raised in Chicago, graduated from Knox College, Galesburg, Ill., She studied figure drawing and oil painting at the Art Institute of Chicago and the University of the Americas, Mexico City. After moving to Los Angeles she studied privately with Keith Finch, Venice. Concurrent with her art pursuits, Garland worked as a magazine editor, publicist, director's assistant, book editor, and sales executive. After a brief hiatus from painting, she looked to the outdoors for inspiration and began plein air watercolor studies with Don Blaisdell, UCLA.
