The vivid colors and contrast convey the comfort of summer in the coastal atmosphere, while specks of color relating to the scene float about the composition presenting a dimension of mystery. The techniques used to create this piece are varied and complex. Besides direct plein air application I also used tools to splash, scratch, scumble paint, and even affix pallet scrapings of dry tangled colors in order to create desired textures." —Christopher L.
