About the Item

Transparent yellow, pink, green and blue, blow up beach ball from Diana Tremaine, whose dynamic oil paintings reflect a search for truth and meaning through simple human experience. Tremaine develops brushstrokes and marks by adding and then obliterating some of the story in a free-association editorial process of discovering what is most important and lasting. The melancholy images echo her experiences in an autobiographical fashion, but are also universal, touching upon and evoking our collective memories like ghosts of what was. There is visual poetry in these surfaces, including the tension that exists when simultaneously holding on and letting go. 'Levity I' 30 x 30 inches, is painted traditionally with oil on canvas. It is ready to hang and enjoy and framing is not required. Artist signed, dated and titled verso. The bicoastal New York City-born artist studied and taught in both Northern and Southern California. She later moved to Montana—in a search for spiritual space and room to breathe—where she works and lives with her family and horses. Presented from Andra Norris Gallery in Burlingame, CA.

#408
By Tiffany Calvert
Located in New Orleans, LA
Calvert’s current paintings investigate the relationship between digital media and the reception and perception of images, and utilizes diverse technologies such as fresco, 3D modeling, AI and data manipulation through code. She is especially interested in the evolution of pictorial space. Today we view our screens and the world they occupy as a shallowly layered space of overlapping desktop windows. The picture plane has tilted up again from the flatbed to float in front of our eyes. Calvert’s paintings in turn depict an intermediate space, where the verticality of the still life paintings cohabitate with these digital panes. Dutch floral still life...
