About the Item

A marvellous, tiny shell, commonly known as a marbled cone, lies on a marble stone, almost at the edge. Reminiscent of Rembrandt's famous engraving, Gianluca Corona enhances the luminous qualities of the shell's speckled surface and inspires wonder around its spiral shape. Gianluca Corona works from life, placing his protagonists in front of the easel, a method that allows him to give three-dimensionality to everything he paints. Trained by the Mario Donizetti, a master of the classical method of oil painting, Corona combines the tradition of the technique with a modern touch. His artworks are extremely refined and suitable for every style of interior design. Thanks to his sensiblity and professionalism, his works are in the most significant private collections in Italy, Europe and overseas. Biography: Gianluca Corona was born in Milan (1969), the city where he still lives and works. He graduated from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in 1991 and from '94 to '96 he further trained as an apprentice in the studio of Mario Donizetti in Bergamo. Following his studies, he started his professional career, establishing himself on the artistic scene as a leading figure of the young Italian figurative art movement. He has held several exhibitions in Italy and abroad and his works are present in public as well as private collections. Furthermore, his paintings are continuously used by the record company Musicmedia to illustrate the covers of their CDs. His works have been praised by some of the most important Italian critics, such as Alberto Agazzani, Franco Basile, Graziano Campanini, Vladek Cwalinski, Carlo Franza, Gilberto Grilli, Gianfranco Lelj, Mario Marcarini, Pietro C. Marani, Alessandro Riva, and Maurizio Sciaccaluga.

Snowy tree; oil on silver ground canvas. By prominent Italian botanical artist
By Margherita Leoni
Located in Milan, IT
This painting can be displayed both vertically and horizontally. The artist herself prepared the background in real, stainless silver, which gives it a modern, warm surface that chameleonically matches the colours of the surrounding walls. Margherita Leoni was born and raised in Italy, however, she spent most of her adult life in San Paulo, Brazil. It was there that she started a collaboration with the botanical faculty of the local university, allowing her to developed an interesting research in rare botanical species studies and drawings. For this reason, most of her artworks, including the one presented here, illustrate Brasilian botanical species, both rare and common. The artist's mastery of watercolour allows her to take part in botanical expeditions where she paints in plein air. Given her exquisite watercolour technique and her extensive botanical knowledge, Margherita Leoni is considered the heir of Margaret Mee...
