Persimmons in A Brass Bowl 11" x 16" oil on panel . Archival Frame
This painting is a quiet piece with the persimmons providing a burst of color. The antique bell was a fortuitous purchase at an estate sale in Houston. The bell, the graceful eucalyptus, the grapes, and the persimmons provide the means to show how the light travels from left to right as it reflects off of those objects. This path of light leads us to the focal point, the persimmons. The beauty of light and shadow in a painting.
Painted by Texas artist Helene Robinson who has studied under great Texas painters. Helene Robinson is known for painting still-lifes in the style of Realism. Her subjects are usually fruit and antique objects which she has acquired from family members, road trips and estate sales. Helene Robinson's creative journey was sparked by a family move to Melbourne, Australia. Inspired by various Australian artists, she discovered her love for oil painting in Australian and continued her studies to this day upon her return to the United States and in Houston. She found her passion for painting was based on a desire to capture the radiant beauty found in color, mood, and light, and to express those qualities in her landscape and still life paintings.
