About the Item
In Winter Bouquet, Irina Forrester captures the quiet elegance of a seasonal still life. Each winter the family spends holiday time together in the country house in England. The artist's sister-in-law runs a successful flower business in Rye, Essex. Thus, each family gatherings the house is decorated with gorgeous flower arrangements and Christmas is no exceptions. Soft, muted tones of mauve, cream, and deep crimson evoke the subdued light of winter days, while expressive brushstrokes bring vitality to the flowers arranged in a dark earthen vase. The interplay of cool and warm hues creates a delicate balance between melancholy and warmth, giving the work a timeless, contemplative quality.
The painting reflects Forrester’s sensitivity to atmosphere and her painterly approach to form, where detail yields to emotion and gesture.
The paining is sold unframed with a wire attached to the back.
The gallery guarantees the uniqueness and high quality of this work of art, backed by a certificate of authenticity. By purchasing paintings by Irina Forrester, you are making a smart investment, as the value of her artworks continues to grow each year.
Irina Forrester is a contemporary Russian-born British artist. She and her family has moved to Singapore from London seven years ago. She has received a formal education at art school in Russia, but her young family and work commitments meant that she had a long break before picking up her brushes again.
Moving to Singapore allowed Irina free time to renew her interest in art and she has spent the last few years exploring various options to brush up on her skills and move forward. To blow away the initial cobwebs, she attended a series of short courses at LASALLE and NAFA and is now an active member of some of Singapore’s life figure/portrait drawing groups to keep her eyes sharp.
Most of Irina’s work is representational but recently she has been looking to shift it towards a fine balance between abstraction and realism. Her subject matter covers a wide range from still lifes and landscapes to portraiture and life drawing sketches. She prefers oils to other mediums for its versatility in application but also enjoys acrylics, gouache, charcoal and ink.
Irina exhibits regularly (40+ shows and art fairs in the last 3 years) and her works are in private collections in the UK, the USA, Europe, Russia, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Artist’s statement
As a visual storyteller, my paintings are the illustrations of my life’s diary—intimate reflections of the moments that shape me. Painting from life is at the core of my practice, capturing subjects ranging from plein air landscapes in Singapore and abroad to more abstract explorations in recent works.
Each piece is an emotional response to the world around me, where the act of putting feeling onto canvas becomes a journey of discovery. This approach results in a diverse body of work, spanning portraits, life drawing sketches, landscapes, and still lifes.
Through my art, I strive to preserve fleeting moments, transforming them into visual narratives that connect emotion, memory, and experience.

Bouquet of Flowers Latvian Modernist Floral Oil Painting
By Vita Merca
Located in Surfside, FL
Vita Merca Latvian artist born 1951. Her father was a conductor, her mother was fascinated with violin and entered Vita in the music world and later in fine arts. Vita has been interested in painting since thirteen years of age. "in the fairy tales by Karl Skalbe, in the poems ofFricis Bard. I also try to approach this subtle soul vibration," says Merca. She emphasizes that she feels free of pompousness and more when she is painting, painting as a means of expression, managing techniques and paying attention to the nuances and motifs, without excessive volume.
"Conceptualism does not exist for me, I want more so that a person, by contacting the painting, reveals what I want to say. It is looking for my contemporaries, the souls of the soul," she says. The artist is painting very specific things, but the reflection of water in her is not only general, it connects the earth and the sky. "It's like serving beauty," says Merca about her relationship with painting.
