Jonquil Williamson
Jonquil Williamson is a British artist who lives and works in London. She began to develop her skills while attending a Diploma in Art and Design in 2013. Following on from this Jonquil joined the Wimbledon Art Studios Colour is the dominant driver in Jonquil’s works, creating vibrant still life and rich tonal landscapes. Although her work is mostly representational, she allows the mark-making and textures created as she layers the paint, to inform the image. Her focus is the sense of place or essence of the object rather than a strict representation of it. Jonquil’s work is highly acclaimed, having been shortlisted for the Visual Art Open competition twice (2017
2018) and exhibited with selected shortlisted works in the National Open Art Prize 2016. Her work is collected around the world.
