About the Item

Lucy Hatton is a British artist whose work is full of an ardent love of story. A graduate of Edinburgh College of Art, Hatton’s art is steeped in mystery and captivating depth. Her work, including her Stories at Midnight series, creates a space in which viewers may exercise their own inner storyteller as they deduce what they see. Hatton’s intention is that audiences can find joy, escapism, and inclusion, as their personal outlook completes the work. Her practice aims to romanticise normality by utilising its components in the creation of the fantastical; therefore, she builds her paintings from elements of the everyday. She finds animals from textbooks, paints her friends as wondrous characters, and creates sets out of recycled materials, pre-existing locations, and found objects; what is not real, she then constructs with imagination and oil paint.

Lightness of Being

“Time” artworks series. This series, by Tanya Vasilenko, is devoted to the very difficult to understand and philosophically inexhaustible phenomenon of time. The artwork fuses together the artist’s interpretation of time and her paradoxical use of techniques. Art, being in many respects the philosophical discipline that comprehends a person and their place in the flow of history, deals with the phenomenon of time constantly. The basic periods in the history of human civilization - Ancient Egypt, the Renaissance, and the New Age - are taken as style reference points. Each of these periods has its own understanding of time and its values, and therefore formed a certain personality, a true hero of their time. Such a person leaves a unique trace in the history of time. This does not happen by accident. Since the time of St. Augustine, theologians have interpreted time as the carrier of the moral principle. This "rediscovery of time" as it is articulated in terms of moral responsibility represents a significant paradigm shift in the culture of the postmodern world. This combination of time and space has the figurative expression of the round dial of a watch...

This picture is included in the series of artworks "Pathos of the Bureaucracy". 100x100cm / oil on canvas/ 2017 The picture is ready to hang (edges of a picture is painted) Signed on the front and back. Certificate of authenticity is included. This is my humorous reaction to the bureaucracy. So often we come across unnecessary laws that say that you need to take permission from someone, and you run from one agency to another, and then notice that part of life has passed.. In the picture, the cancer writes a collective letter to the slug...
