Soft and realistic mid century still life of a basket overflowing with clusters of ripe grapes, beside a copper vessel and a glass of white wine, by Manuel Ventura Millan (Spanish, 1923 - 1984). Signed "M. V. Millan" in the lower right corner. Note on stretcher on verso. Presented in a wood frame with a gold leaf accent. Image size: 23.75"H x 39.5"W
Manuel Ventura Millán (Rodriguez) was born in Chipiona, Spain. He lived for many years in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, a city in the northwest of Cadiz province, part of Andalucia. Self-taught, he was one of the first artists of Chipiona.
