September Glory, Bouquet in a Yellow Vase, Still Life Floral Art, Impressionist
By Mary Chaplin
Located in Deddington, GB
September glory by Mary Chaplin is an impressionistic, almost abstract bouquet in a yellow vase. Echinacea pink and light purple asters make up this bouquet collected in the garden of the artist who could not resist the temptation to paint it. Mary Chaplin, cultivates the flowers in her garden to feed her inspiration. This bouquet would bring a ray of sunshine in a room even though it is not a large painting nethertheless its impact is impressive in a room. This painting is painted with high quality thick acrylic paint on linen canvas. It is not framed but ready to hung.
Mary Chaplin is available at Wychwood Art. Mary is a French artist and lives and works in Wailly, a picturesque hamlet surrounded by ponds, rivers and woods, in the North of France. Mary Chaplin for more than twenty years has worked as a self-taught professional artist, always inspired by nature and by the varying effects of light. She started her career by painting figurative scenes she saw around her in the French countryside. Her first artworks were representations of landscapes, gardens, forests, rivers or lakes, which allowed her to explore different techniques, including pastel, oil, acrylic and watercolour. However, both her life and career reached a turning point in 2005 when she witnessed the ‘holy light...

Irises in the Spring Breeze - abstract expressionist gesture study flowers flora
By Mary Chaplin
Located in London, Chelsea
The original abstract expressionist artwork by Mary Chaplin presents a gestural flora study. The artist culminates a myriad of expressive brush strokes to create the impression of blooms, painted in a kaleidoscope palette of a multitude of colours. The way the artist has imparted the paint strokes with energy and vitality creates a joyful sense of optimism, making for a striking work of art. The artist evokes the beauty and frailty of the subject matter, seeing how the delicacy of flowers is reflected in the human condition. The artist skilfully creates a balance between liberated paint application whilst also reaching a pleasingly balanced composition. This piece is painted in oils on stretched canvas, hand signed by the artist and ready to be displayed.
Mary Chaplin is a professional French artist living in Wailly, near Amiens in the beautiful River Selle Valley. She was born near the Bay of the Somme and spent her younger years in the Picardie countryside, often accompanying her father who was passionate about the local wildlife and environment. Her mother had a beautiful garden where she grew flowers to sell at the weekly village markets , Mary would help her picking and creating bunches of flowers, old roses, peonies, lupines , phlox…, it was surely from these early years that her love of the country , forests and flowers came from.
Her earliest works then were motivated by her environment, the sea, fields, forests, country life, not forgetting the flowers in her mother’s garden. The Bay of the River Somme is famous for its flora, fauna and above all its beautiful light which has always been an inspiration for painters, poets and writers. At first she experimented with many different techniques, water colour, pastels, pencil, acrylic and oil, capturing the scenes around her, but even at the beginning of her career she was using light as an integral theme through her works. In 2005 her work took on a great U turn when sitting quietly in a small chapel in a picturesque coastal village , Bois de Cise, she watched the light patterns through the stained glass windows moving slowly over the old flag stone...
