About the Item
Ming Ming Liang (Chinese, born 1964)
"Sunlight After Storm" 2024
Oil Paint, Canvas, Stretcher Bars
The artist signed the bottom right of the painting.
In "Sunlight After Storm", Ming Ming reimagines a floral still-life as a radiant, abstract composition bursting with energy. Bold strokes of golden yellow and fiery orange emerge from a moody backdrop of deep blues, greens, and indigos, evoking the moment when sunlight pierces through dissipating storm clouds.
Her expressive brushwork and layered textures create a sense of movement as if the flowers are caught in a fleeting dance between chaos and calm. Balancing abstraction with emotional depth, this piece captures the beauty of light overcoming darkness, making it a striking statement of resilience and renewal.

"My painting is an expression of the beauty of life and freedom. My inspirations come from my surroundings: gardens, California’s wildflowers, trees, sunshine, wind, clouds, and tides. All of these drive me to seek how they interact. For many years, I have focused on the theme of flowers. I intend to capture these forms, compositions, and movements between light and shadow to integrate my memories and imagination onto canvas. In my flower series, I explore form, texture, color, and light in a unique freehand style. I usually paint in a certain hue, then rework and re-layer with brush strokes and textures to create paneled surfaces, where the objects, light, and air often meld into one; colors disperse with warmth diffusing into the background. The process is full of the possibilities for the playfulness of art." - Ming Ming

"To, Livorno" - Coastal Italian Landscape with a Blue Ocean and Green Hills

Masri Hayssam (Lebanese, Italian, born 1965)
"To, Livorno" 2002
Oil paint on canvas, stretcher bars
The artist signed the bottom left corner of the painting.
“To, Livorno” is a richly textured landscape by Masri that captures the sensation of moving through the Italian coast rather than describing it literally. Sweeping passages of green, ochre, and deep blue are built with confident, physical brushwork, creating a sense of terrain, wind, and shifting light that feels both immediate and memory-driven. The composition suggests hills and coastal pathways dissolving into the atmosphere, allowing color and gesture to carry the emotional weight of place. Masri has long drawn inspiration from Italy, particularly the Tuscan and coastal regions, where he returns repeatedly to paint and absorb the rhythm of the landscape. In this work, that relationship is felt through the balance of structure and spontaneity, where observation gives way to intuition. Painted in oil, To, Livorno reflects Masri’s mature approach to landscape painting, one rooted in experience, movement, and a deep affection for the Italian countryside.
About the Artist:
Masri is a passionate Italian, US-based artist whose work has been exhibited in the USA, the UK, Germany, Lebanon, Italy, and Norway. His work is varied and known especially in Europe and in Major collections - Ellen DeGeneres, Ringo Starr, Al Gore, and many more. Harnessing an insatiable desire for artistic discovery, innovation, and perfection, he dives into experimentation with openness and enthusiasm. As a result, his works are bright, expansive, and bold. Masri has developed a style that captures the Middle Eastern mood with a Lucien Freud...
