About the Item
“Orange Hydrangea in a Vase” is a contemporary floral still life painting by French artist Natalya Mougenot, part of her expressive and colorful “Floral” series. This artwork celebrates the beauty and vitality of nature through a radiant bouquet of orange hydrangeas, painted with emotion, spontaneity, and freedom.
Created with acrylic paints on professional Italian paper, this modern artwork bursts with vivid colors, dynamic brushstrokes, and luminous energy. Mougenot’s artistic process is deeply intuitive — she allows her emotions and movements to guide each stroke, capturing the rhythm and vitality of blooming flowers in their purest, most expressive form.
Inspired by the natural elegance of hydrangeas, this painting reflects the artist’s fascination with color and the power of artistic experimentation. The composition radiates warmth, joy, and vitality — an embodiment of modern expressionism and contemporary floral art.
Each detail reveals the artist’s passion for color exploration and her dedication to capturing the fleeting beauty of nature. The work is varnished to protect it from fading and to preserve its vibrant tones over time.

Natalya is a contemporary artist from Lyon, France. She was born and grew up in Kazakhstan, the country known for its spacious steppes and low mountains. She arrived in France 2003. Since that moment she loves her adoptive country. She started painting in 2017 and used it as a therapeutic and emotional release during times of crisis when she was struggling with radical life changes. She incorporates this therapeutic approach in her artistic creative process till now. Several years ago painting became more than a hobby. It became a way of expressing her emotions and visions, a successive reaction to events of either personal or general concern. Her artist statement: “ I paint as it’s a necessity for my soul to express itself. Being creative for me is overcoming the restrictions. My art is a piece of my soul. I hope my art inspires reflection, provides a release and forms connection at other people’s souls”. She has developed her own vision of art through practicing a lot. She makes use of varying degrees of figuration, abstraction and impressionism by adding a contemporary twist. Abstract art for her is an interesting challenge for understanding inner feelings, a self-expression based on an intuitive approach. In figurative art her main subject remains women. Her artworks representing women contain the raw emotions of women. She also communicates the importance and the power of strong female relationships: “Women are enriched when they bond with each other”. She works in series: among them are "Heart-mind connection" of abstract artworks, "Women", "Bond", "Florals", "Springtime"... She uses various mediums ( acrylic, oil, watercolor, oil pastels) to create her unique artworks either on canvas or on paper. But she mainly uses acrylic as she works very quickly and expressively by finishing her artwork in one sitting. If Natalya had to pick one quote about her art, she would say : " Art is the reflection of the soul". Natalya goes with her gut and intuition to choose the colors, the lines, the shapes and the texture. She hopes her artworks will give a home a unique personality by filling it with life and color. Her sources of inspirations are Claude Monet, Paul Cezanne, Henri Matisse, George-Daniel de Monfreid, Paul Gauguin. She also admires the artworks of Joan Mitchell and Banksy.

Bouquet of Roses
, Contemporary Still Life with Roses in a Orange Vase
By Sasja Wagenaar
Located in Utrecht, NL
When you look at this painting ''Bouquet of Roses'' by Dutch artist Sasja Wagenaar (1959) from a distance you see a perfectly painted image, but up close a generous paint streak is visible. She has a unique way of applying shadow and light effects in her paintings.
Sasja Wagenaar is inspired by our classic masters from the seventeenth century, a flourishing period in Dutch painting. The century in which new continents, markets and arts were discovered. At that time in the Netherlands it was a real fad to collect chinoiserie. Originally porcelain, but also Dutch pottery, also known as Delft blue, inspired by Chinese and especially by Japanese bowls and vases.
To quote Sasja Wagenaar: ‘Every platter, every bowl is already so much in itself. They were made with great care through hundreds of hands before they ended up here. Their character must be respected in composing the story that forms a still life. They are as alive as the blossom branches and I try to let them speak together. Slowly the image is created’.
Although rooted in the 17th century Dutch tradition, her work shows her very own signature and is contemporary. As a true Modern Dutch Master...
