This artwork "Still Life with Vase and Flowers" 1933 is an oil painting on canvas by noted German artist Otto Ditscher 1903-1986. It is signed at the lower right corner by the artist. The canvas size is 28 x 22 inches, framed is 38 x 31 inches. It is in good condition, the canvas has been relined, stretcher has been replaced by a new one, frame is also in good condition, it has some minor restorations, barely visible. About the artist: Otto Ditscher (born October 29, 1903 in Neuhofen (Pfalz) , † November 13, 1987 ibid) was a German painter and member of the artists' association " Palatine Secession ". Otto Ditscher completed a craftsman training in painting. After 1910 there was an encounter with the painter Heinz Schifferdecker (1889-1924), who introduced him to the then artistic style discussion in the Fin de Siècle . Otto Ditscher then studied from 1922 to 1925 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Adolf Schinnerer , Max Doerner and Max Mayrshofer . The artist's work exhibits classical themes such as still lifes , portraits and landscapes as well as transposing motifs into abstract forms, informal paintings and collages . He was able to characterize the atmosphere of the world cities of Venice , Paris and New York as well as the familiar native Rhine plain unmistakably. In addition, there are always illustrations to masterpieces of German poetry, which he compiled and published with the help of his wife Johanna Ditscher as anthologies. For this reason, an art prize for book illustration from the Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis has been awarded since 1978 under the name of this artist. Every four years since 1990, it has also been awarded for musical compositions that are particularly suitable for performance by pupils.
