This mesmerizing post-cubist and colorist abstract oil on board painting was designed by A. Rigollot (France, 20th Century).
Colorist paintings are characterized by intense color use, which becomes the dominant characteristic of the resulting work of art, more important than its other qualities.
The French Impressionism Movement in the late 19th century predicted this painting trend, which gained prominence in the early 20th century with the work of the Fauvists.
It has since surfaced in a wide range of individual styles and art movements outside of France, the most prominent being the Scottish Colorists, Polish Colorists, and American Color Field abstract painters.
This painting, titled "Idole," is a stunning and colorful composition where the colors define the painter's vision of the world. The painting is signed bottom right corner: A. Rigollot - 1961.
Newly reframed in an elegantly black high gloss wood frame.

The artwork is in good condition, with some minor scratches on the paint.
