About the Item
Aurelio Tolosa y Alsina (Barcelona, 1861 - Barcelona, 1938) was a painter and decorator who developed his artistic activity mainly around the city of Barcelona. He was a pupil at first of the French teacher and painter Justin Simon and, later, in the Palco, of the teacher Modest Urgell who gave him lessons to recreate his landscapes. He participated in several art competitions and exhibitions in Barcelona where he was awarded several times. His paintings include landscapes and vases, but it was the paintings of fans that gave him the status of a neat painter and an excellent decorator. It is also worth noting the imitations of ancient painting as well as the painting of tapestries, enameled and gilded of several works that were made to be a workshop in the Plaza Letamendi of the city of Barcelona.
