Tom Harford Thompson was born in Amersham in 1964. He trained as a pattern cutter at London College of Fashion, before going on to study a BA in Art History at Manchester School of Art. Following University, Tom pursued a career as a fashion and interiors photographer, recently producing his first book for Thames and Hudson entitled 'Artists' Homes: Live/Work Spaces for Modern Makers.' Both his career as a photographer and his early formative experience as a pattern cutter have informed a unique, instinctual eye for form, colour and composition. Tom works from his studio in an 18th-century barn in rural Carmarthenshire where his painting, with its palette of bright colour and earthy tones, draws inspiration from the changing seasons of the natural environment around him. Tom's work can be found in private collections in the United Kingdom and New York.
