About the Item
Respiro continues Eduardo Rezende’s poetic investigation of construction-site materials, revealing beauty in what is often dismissed as temporary or utilitarian. In this work, a turquoise protective mesh becomes a pulsating surface, alive with texture, rhythm, and light. The small openings scattered across the fabric break the uniformity of the grid, functioning like breaths—pauses where the outside world slips through. These irregular perforations introduce a human, almost vulnerable quality to an industrial material designed to hide and contain.
Rezende’s framing intensifies the abstract nature of the scene: shadows form geometric patterns, the woven threads create a hypnotic horizontal flow, and the deep blue glimpses behind the tears suggest movement, depth, and possibility. What could be read as damage becomes a metaphor for release and permeability, a reminder that even in rigid structures there are moments of softness, transparency, and escape.
Through Respiro, Rezende transforms a simple mesh into a meditation on resilience, fragility, and the subtle beauty found in transitions and work-in-progress states — the core spirit of the Lavori in Corso series.
