Testament is a series that explores the landscapes of Iceland, home to the largest icecap in Europe and formed by the friction of the tectonic plates. The wonders of Iceland are endless, but their existence is under threat due to global warming: glaciers are receding 5 times faster than they used to only 10 years ago. The series is a testament to what remains of these great glaciers and serves as a reminder of what could be lost if we don’t all make a conscious effort to fight global warming and stop sea levels from rising.
Luca Marziale has always been fascinated by natural landscapes, because they allowed him to find the solitude, the calmness and the direct contact with nature which are impossible to find in the metropolitan jungles of big cities. In his work the artist challenges the conception of landscape and the idea that we have of a classic landscape. Thanks to his refined technique and personal vision of the landscape, Luca Marziale invites the observer to discover unknown and unusual landscapes, creating an inspiring and different photographic world.

Luca Marziale
In his work, Luca Marziale questions the concept of landscape and our idea of the classic landscape. The artist’s attention is often focused on small details which he captures with macro zoomed lens to compose the ‘micro-landscapes’, as he defines them. These photographs challenge the observer to question their perception and perspective. The landscape has become abstract, the points of reference have disappeared, and the subject of the photograph is not immediately obvious. Thanks to his refined technique and personal vision of the landscape, the artist invites the observer to discover unknown and unusual landscapes, creating an inspiring and different photographic world. “Not all landscapes have to be vast and infinite; sometimes a closer look can be immense in the same way.”
