About the Item

This is a unique photographic work taken by Andy Warhol. An English expat living in New York City, Quentin Crisp came to prominence following the publication of his 1968 autobiography, The Naked Civil Servant. The book, which details Crisp’s coming of age and sexual exploits in repressive England, in part made him a gay icon. It was adapted into a film starring John Hurt in 1975. Boy George is a musician known for his outrageous and androgynous style. He was part of the English New Romantic movement of the late 1970s and early 80s. His band Culture Club was known for such hit songs as "Karma Chameleon" and "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me." Judith Krantz is a popular romance novelist. Andy Warhol, Photograph of Diana Vreeland and Fred Hughes
By Andy Warhol
Located in Beverly Hills, CA
This is a unique photographic print taken by Andy Warhol. As Editor-in-Chief, Diana Vreeland brought Vogue to the forefront of international fashion magazines. Richard Avedon said of Vreeland at her memorial, “Diana lived for imagination ruled by discipline, and created a totally new profession. Vreeland invented the fashion editor.” Photographers such as Irving Penn, Franco Rubartelli, David Bailey, Patrick Litchfield, Cecil Beaton, and Richard Avedon contributed some of their landmark pieces to the magazine. As one of the greatest fashion icons in history, Diana Vreeland had many of her own thoughts on fashion. She says, “Fashion is a part of the daily air and it changes all the time, with all the events. You can even see the approaching of a revolution in clothes. You can see and feel everything in clothes.”  Fred Hughes...
