Araquém Alcântara, 64 years old, is considered by the critics as a forerunner of nature photography in Brazil and one of the most important photographers active in this country. Since 1970, he has been working full-time on the documentation of nature and the Brazilian people. His vast production includes 47 books on environmental themes, 22 books as a co-author, five international awards, 32 national awards, and 75 solo shows, as well as countless essays and reports for newspapers and magazines in Brazil and abroad. The first photographer to have documented all Brazil’s national parks, he was also the first Brazilian photographer ever commissioned to produce a special edition for the National Geographic Society. Araquém is a strong supporter of Brazil's natural heritage, particularly the Amazon Rainforest and the Atlantic Forest. It is also pointed out by critics as one of the precursors of nature photography in Brazil as one of the most important photographers operating in the country. His work has garnered international acclaim and is currently a national hallmark and source of inspiration for new photographers. #nature #araquem #naturephotography #artwork #forest #theamazon #amazonia Signed and numbered label.
