David L. Raines masterfully crafts light to create his works. Based in New York City, Raines works with his subjects to bring their stories to life through his eyes. Focusing on the human form, Raines often anonymizes his subjects, choosing to remove their faces from view, focusing on light and gestural movements.
He continues to build on previous bodies of work through innovation of technique and process, while staying true to his craft.
Raines' works have been exhibited with Chesterfield Gallery in New York and in Miami during Art Basel. He has a 2026 solo exhibition in New York, as well as group exhibitions alongside Ansel Adams and other greats of 20th Century black and white photography in 2026, 2027, and 2028.
