About the Item
In this early photographic series, Dubravka Lazić turns her lens toward a subject rarely treated with such a quiet dignity: domestic cats. Shot in 2005, these portraits mimic the formal conventions of ID photography – direct gaze, frontal composition, neutral background – yet their purpose is far from bureaucratic. Each cat is presented as an individual, a personality in its own right. Stripped of decorative context, the animals emerge not as pets or symbols, but as singular beings with distinct presences. Lazić approaches them not with irony or sentimentality, but with the same seriousness we reserve for human portraiture. The result is a subtle play between species, perception and representation.
There is both humor and tenderness in the gesture – an instance that identity is not exclusive to the human face, and that the act of looking can reveal personality across species lines. In these portraits, the cats are not symbols or metaphors. They are themselves.
Dubravka Lazić is an artist and professor of photography whose work combines analog and digital techniques, often exploring the interplay between reality and imagination. Her practice is marked by a poetic visual language that intertwines narrative, memory, and experimentation. Through photography, photograms, and mixed media processes, she creates layered images that evoke intimacy and reflection, while also highlighting the subtle tension between tradition and contemporary approaches.

Born in Zurich, Switzerland, Brigitte studied at Zurich University and received her MA in Social and Photo History in 1996. In the following years she established herself as an fine art photographer. She moved to New York and received her MFA in Fine Art Photography and Related Media at Parsons The New School of Design in 2007. The main issues in her works lie in her interest in the study of the gaze, the interplay between absence and presence in a photographic image, and the fact that the reading of a photograph is most often triggered by a collective memory. She explores the media itself and its close connection to themes like decay, memory, death and transitoriness.
Brigitte Lustenberger has shown nationally and internationally in both solo and group shows. She had Solo Shows at the Museée de l’Elysée in Lausanne/Switzerland, at Walter Keller’s Scalo Gallery in Zurich and New York, at Le Maillon...

Undo No.2 - analogue black and white abstract expressionism, limited edition 10
By Ugne Pouwell
Located in London, GB
'Undo' 2021
The gauzy veil, swept by an unseen force, suggests both concealment and revelation, echoing the duality of identity as something imposed yet inherently fluid. Even though the societal veil remains, its power is diminished—the subject moves freely beyond the constructs seen by constrained minds. Light softly filters through, symbolizing self-discovery and transcendence, a quiet emergence from expectation into pure existence. In this symphony of contrast and motion, identity is no longer bound—it simply is, limitless and free.
It is a double exposure film composition.
Photograph is a limited edition of 10.
Printed on archival Hahnemühle Photo Rag Baryta paper. Signed both front and back with Certificate of Authenticity.
Photograph is shipped fast and flat in secure thick cardboard packaging.
