About the Item
American actress Marilyn Monroe relaxes on the sofa of her suite at the Ambassador Hotel in New York whilst reading 'To the Actor: On the Technique of Acting', the classic guide to acting by Michael Chekhov.
Her legs are curled up into the frame of the photograph. Although Chekhov's tome partly obscures her face, Monroe's identifiable platinum blond coiffure catches the light that streams through a nearby window and illuminates her like a halo.
The Ambassador Hotel was located at 38 East 51st Street in New York City, only a few blocks away from the Rockefeller Building.
