Fine art prints are produced to order on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Baryta. Each print is stamped on the reverse, signed and numbered by Gerald Berghammer, and accompanied by a letter of authenticity. Prints include a 4 cm white border.

SILVERFINART – Analog Roots, Contemporary Vision
Vienna, Austria — Gerald Berghammer (born 1975, Austria) is an internationally award-winning photographer whose work is rooted in a lifelong dedication to analog black-and-white photography. Traveling extensively, Berghammer captures fleeting impressions on film, creating images that consciously slow perception and stand in deliberate contrast to today’s fast-paced digital world.
During his master studies, analog photography became the central focus of Berghammer’s artistic practice and the subject of his final thesis in 2011. The exceptional quality of this work laid the foundation for SILVERFINEART, a body of work defined by technical precision, aesthetic clarity, and a strong commitment to photographic craftsmanship. In the years that followed, Berghammer continued to refine and deepen his engagement with the medium, pursuing photographic art at the highest technical and artistic level.
A defining characteristic of his practice is complete control over the photographic process. All analog negatives were personally developed by the artist in the darkroom. Each image then underwent a rigorous selection process, with only works meeting his uncompromising quality standards included in the final portfolio.
In recent years, Berghammer has expanded his artistic toolkit through the use of state-of-the-art medium-format digital technology. This evolution represents not a departure, but a continuation of his established visual language—preserving the discipline, compositional rigor, and aesthetic principles shaped by decades of analog experience.
SILVERFINEART embodies the synthesis of classical photographic craftsmanship and contemporary vision. The works are characterized by timeless black-and-white imagery, reduced compositions, and a strong emphasis on atmosphere and form.

Artist statement:
Nature provides the perfect model of beauty, according to Plato and Socrates. In the classical period, something was considered beautiful because it existed in nature; art was secondary. In the 18th Century, the German philosopher Johann Joachim Winckelmann argued against the idea that art imitates life, believing that qualities superior to nature are found in art, specifically, ideal beauty, and “brain-born images”. Neoclassical thought represented that art need not serve any end other than its own existence. For me, beauty is an ideal, nature is real, and art comes from the brain.
