About the Item

HIROSHI SUGIMOTO (*1948, Japan) 267 Arcadia, Milan 1998 Gelatin silver print Image 119,4 x 149,2 cm (47 x 58 5/8 in.) Framed 152,4 x 182,2 x 7,6 cm (60 x 71 5/8 x 2 3/4 in.) Edition of 5; Ed. no 1/5 For over 40 years, the Japanese artist Hiroshi Sugimoto (*1948) has been creating fascinating and mysterious artworks, which have artistically responded to and challenged our collective perception of time and history. He studied at Saint Paul's University in Tokyo and later at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, where he was strongly influenced by the American art movements of Minimalism and Concept Art. He works exclusively in the medium of black-and-white photography and according to the concept of the series, consistently pursuing the idea of individual series over a longer period of time. – Hiroshi Sugimoto, Cinema, Japanese, Photography, Black White
