"The subjects of this work are familiar yet elusive. Rather than present a complete image, I present the viewer with the form of a landscape and invite them to compose the rest of the image themselves. The viewer must physically and psychologically engage with the work—spending time to compose the rest of the image themselves, filling in the blanks, and inventing stories within the work. Each viewer then comes away with an image in their mind’s eye based partly in reality and partly their own making.” -Jonathan Knight Each print is a museum-quality, archival piece. Each print is an acrylic face-mount/diasec print mounted to a custom-milled float frame custom-designed alongside the photographer and hand-fabricated by an artist-woodworker. Images are titled, editioned, and signed verso and include the woodworker's burn stamp on the bottom of the frame. Jonathan Knight is a self-taught photographic artist with two decades of experience in creating his reductive black-and-white photographs described as “stunningly spare and surreal.” * His work has been exhibited worldwide and recognized with over two dozen international awards. Jonathan remarks of his latest work, “for some, the charm of a photograph is its ability to freeze a split-second depicted in painstaking detail. I am devoted to the opposite. My long-exposure work—of sand dunes, waterfalls, and piers—shows a world that is not stuck, but continuous. In this way, though abstract, my photographs represent a more accurate vision of reality.
