Karl Blossfeldt
Karl Blossfeldt was a German photographer, sculptor, teacher and artist who worked in Berlin, Germany. He is best known for his close-up photographs of plants and living things, published in 1929 as Urformen der Kunst. Blossfeldt was inspired, as was his father, by nature and how plants grow. He believed that "the plant must be valued as an artistic and architectural structure." Among his students at the Berlin Arts and Crafts School was Heinz Warneke. From 1924, Blossfeldt was a professor at the Vereinigte Staatsschulen für freie und angewandete Kunst (United States School for Fine and Applied Art) in Berlin, Germany.

The photographs of the young Turkish artist Melissa Mizrakli focus on the human body, giving it a personal interpretation. The area that would become Gold Point, one of Nevada’s best ghost towns, was first settled by ranchers and a few miners around 1880. A small camp was formed a few hundred yards west of the present-day townsite at an outcropping of limestone and was called Lime Point.
When new discoveries of both gold and silver established the major mining towns of Tonopah and Goldfield, Nevada in the early 1900s, a flood of prospectors returned to the old Lime Point mining camp to try their luck.
