About the Item
Movement on Metal is part of a series of graphic, industrial, black and white photographic images. All are limited editions and produced with infused archival inks on metal which means the image is permeated into the metal thereby becoming part of the material versus being merely printed on the surface. It can be inside or outside in all seasons for years with very little loss of resolution. A mounting system would be included. The finish is a metal black gallery wrap. What that means is, imagine a metal frame that the image rests on. It is an inch deep and presents the art in an elegant, museum quality fashion. Yet it is much lighter than a PVC back or a heavy frame.
About artist:
Kat is an award-winning photographer, mixed media artist and writer as well as Co-Director/Partner at The White Room Gallery. Her work has been described as provocative, imaginative, unique, bold, crisp and unexpected.
O'Neill's works are a colorful coupling of near abstraction with realism along with a strong dose of implied narration. She has won many awards for her art including Gold for Best of the Best East End Artist in 2016 and 2017 and The Award of Excellence by Juror Karen Marks, Director of Manhattan’s Howard Greenberg Gallery, one of the world’s leading photography galleries as well as Juror Dr. Naomi Rosenblum, eminent photographic historian and Juror Jennifer McGregor, Director of Arts and Senior Curator at Wave Hill Cultural Center. Her work has been featured in numerous websites and publications including The New York Times and has been displayed by museums, galleries and private collectors. All Kat’s images are limited editions, printed with archival pigment inks which are then infused into a proprietary polymer coating that’s applied to an aluminum panel. During the transfer process pores open on the polymer coating and the inks turn into a gas thus causing the ink to literally be in the print as opposed to being printed on it.
