The Siamese cat is renowned as extremely vocal, intelligent, and affectionate and is typically very social and exhibits a love of human and feline companionship. The first Siamese cats outside their Asian home of Siam, now Thailand, were sent as gifts in the late 1880's by the British consul-General and the American consul in Bangkok.
