Coco with Suzy Parker in Dark Suit, 1957 -- Chanel in her salon with American model Suzy Parker. Mark Shaw's informal, grainy, black and white images of Coco Chanel were created using an unobtrusive 35mm camera and film processing methods that enabled him to eliminate all other photographic equipment. Although Shaw's techniques increased the grain and contrast of the photographs, the lack of intimidating, distracting flash and lights allowed him to capture an unusually relaxed Chanel. Image size is 40" x 59" (for 44" x 63" paper size). All Mark Shaw prints are made to order in limited editions on Hahnemuhle photo rag paper. Model with Siamese Cat -- Mark Shaw photographed model Alice Bruno for Mademoiselle in 1950 holding a Siamese kitten -- A favorite model of Shaw's, Alice Bruno also appeared on one of his 1951 LIFE covers. The Siamese cat is renowned as extremely vocal, intelligent, and affectionate and is typically very social and exhibits a love of human and feline companionship. The first Siamese cats outside their Asian home of Siam, now Thailand, were sent as gifts in the late 1880's by the British consul-General and the American consul in Bangkok. Image size is 16" x 16" (for 17" x 22" paper size). All Mark Shaw prints are made to order in limited editions on Hahnemuhle photo rag paper. Each print is Estate stamped on the back and signed and numbered by David Shaw, and accompanied by a letter of authenticity.
