Groundbreaking fashion photographer Gleb Derujinsky invigorated the fashion industry with his glamorous, exotic, and often unconventional photographs. Gleb Derujinsky's career as a fashion photographer took hold in the golden age of European haute couture, when Balenciaga and Pierre Balmain were at the top of their game and Yves Saint Laurent and Karl Lagerfeld were designing their first runway shows. Although air travel was still reserved for the happy few, Derujinsky convinced his editors Carmel Snow and Diana Vreeland to send him around the world to photograph beautiful models like Carmen Dell Orefice and his future wife, Ruth Neumann draped in expensive gowns juxtaposed against rough desert dunes or a glittering ocean at sunset. His ideas were revolutionary and they gave rise to the mystique and glamour that is now pervasive in fashion. Derujinsky was the quintessential Renaissance man photographer, award-winning cinematographer and commercial director, inventor, WWII veteran, world traveler, jewelry designer, musician, ski instructor, Ferrari America race-car driver, and champion glider pilot. His passion for photography started at the tender age of six, by ten, he had built a photo enlarger, and as a teenager, he became the youngest member of the Camera Club of New York. His photographs appeared in major lifestyle magazines and extensively in Harper's Bazaar from 1950 to 1970

ABOUT:
For the last two years Mark and Kristen have collaborated using one of the earliest photographic methods, collodion wet plate to create ambrotypes on glass and tintypes on aluminum. They use a 1860 style view camera to create one-of-a-kind images, which become windows into an intimate, romantic, and beautiful world of faces, still lives, nudes, and landscapes. In this demanding process, the collodion coated tin or glass plates are immersed in a silver nitrate solution, and then they must be exposed in the camera and developed while still wet. Serendipitous flaws and beautiful imperfections are an inevitable part of this imprecise hands-on process.
This show includes a combination of 24 tintypes and ambrotypes, which are 8x10 and smaller in size. Their intimate sizes ask the viewers to look closer and spend more time with these photographs to fully appreciate their power. — A welcome antidote to today's nonstop, ¬instantaneous imagery. Paradoxically, this intersection of past and present gives these pieces an unmistakably contemporary feel. The two collaborators deliberately play up the ambiguity of time.
The nudes (some recalling E.J. Bellocq's alluring portraits of New Orleans prostitutes in 1912) are suffused with freshness and sensuality, even eroticism at times, with nearly all of them coming off as refined rather than crass.

Monica Vitti is born in Rome on November 3, 1931. Admitted in 1950 to the Academy of Dramatic Art (where she will return in 1986 as a teacher), and graduated in 1953, she immediately tackles the scenes in L'avaro di Molière (1954), The island of the parrots of S. Tofano (1954), They founded a city of C. Meano (1954), Mother Courage and her children of B. Brecht (1954). Between 1956 and 1959 she also participated in television broadcasts and acted in numerous adaptations of famous theatrical texts. She made her film debut playing secondary parts in Laugh, Laugh, Laugh! by E. Anton, 1955; A mink coat by G. Pellegrini, 1956; Le dritte di M. Amendola, 1958. Dubbing actress of Il scido di M. Antonioni (1957), she meets the director who, after having directed her to the theater in I am a camera by J. Van Druten (1957) and in Secret Scandals by Antonioni and E. Bartolini (1957), he calls her as the protagonist in L'avventura (1960), a film with which V. is a leading actress. Always led by Antonioni, from now on she will play suffering characters who embody a profound crisis of feelings. Apart from a brief television parenthesis (a transposition of the short story The White Nights by F. Dostoevskij, directed by V. Cottafavi), La notte (1961), L'eclisse (1962) and Deserto rosso (1963) belong to a happy partnership with Antonioni (who will be revived episodically for the production of The Mystery of Oberwald [1980], a courageous experiment of intertwining cinema and electronic techniques, propitiated by the exhumation of a play by J. Cocteau, L'aigle à deux têtes). Ian Sanderson (born 1951 Scotland, died 2020 Spain) was a Scottish photographer.
He produced images over a 35 year career, and in recent years used archival techniques to produce his prints.
For most of his career he worked as both a Commercial and Fine Art photographer, and during his last years concentrated on his personal imagery.
Towards the end of his life journey, Ian was reviving with his partner two 19th century printing techniques in their studio, Platinum Palladium and Gum Bichromate ( one-of-a-kind pieces). This culminated in a large retrospective exhibition in Barcelona which was sponsored by the Nando and Elsa Peretti Foundation.
The Platinum and Palladium prints are particularly interesting as they printed them onto vellum paper therefore transparent and bonded pure gold or silver to the back of the prints ( every print is therefore a unique and timeless piece of art).
They have created rare and personalized pieces with an artisanal technique.
Ian Sanderson was one of only a handful of artists worldwide producing this type of work.
Nowadays, Ian’s partner continues their work, she’s still creating Platinum Palladium prints but also silver gelatin photographs.
