About the Item

Terry O’Neill’s candid photojournalistic portraits of creative and political luminaries have included Brigitte Bardot, The Beatles, Audrey Hepburn, Nelson Mandela, and Frank Sinatra, to name just a few, and have appeared on the covers of Life, Rolling Stone, and Vogue. Over the years O’Neill has formed close bonds with many of his sitters, evidenced by the intimate, snapshot-style nature of many of his photographs from the 1960s and ’70s. “I’m a reportage photographer, and I just like fading into the background,” says O’Neill. “The more discrete you are the better off you are.” Terry O’Neill is one of the world’s most collected photographers whose work hangs in national art galleries and private collections worldwide. For over six decades, he has photographed the front line of fame, from the greats of screen and stage to presidents, prime ministers and rock stars. These silver gelatin prints made directly from Terry O’Neill’s negatives and are offered as part of an edition of 50 numbered, digitally signed and embossed prints in order to complete unfinished editions. These posthumous editions will come with a certificate of authenticity from Terry’s agents along with Gallery 270’s provenance card signed by the gallery director. Please contact us for any remaining lifetime prints signed by Terry O’Neill.
