About the Item
Views of Spina di Borgo is a lot of two vintage single-coated photographic prints. On the back a violet stamp "Fotovedo Roma..." and some hand-written notes in lapis reporting the date "1936" in both pictures. cm 13 x18. Preserved in perfect conditions.
The first photo reproduces a landscape of Rione di Borgo realized from the roof of a building, the second one a beautiful glimpse from a street, with two cats and hanging clothes, a photograph will become a leitmotiv of the Rooman everyday lifestyle.
This lot represents a very important and rare photographic testimony of a disappeared Roman neighborhood, destroyed in 1936 for the realization of via della Conciliazione: an urban upheaval decided during the stipulation of "Patti Lateranensi" in 1929, the first conciliation event between the Italian and the Vatican states before the annexation of Rome in Italy.
