This vintage silver gelatin print is signed and dated in ink on the front of the mount beneath the image and was likely made in 1970.
An image that heralded Bullock's highly experimental period, "Pebble Beach, 1970", alternatively known as "Nursery Rocks", is a negative image of pebbles caught in tafoni erosions at Bean Hollow, CA. Mounted to Hi-Art Illustration Board.

Wynn Bullock
Wynn Bullock (1902 – 1975) began his photographic career at the age of 42 studying at the Art Center School in Los Angeles, California. A lifelong friend of Edward Weston, his work and influence thrived in Bullock's photographs and in 1968, he became a trustee and chairman of the exhibition committee during the formative years of Friends of Photography in Carmel, California. Bullock is recognized as an American master photographer of the 20th Century. His work is included in over 90 major museum collections around the world including The Museum of Modern Art, The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, The Hallmark Collection of Photography and The Center for Creative Photography. "Searching is everything - going beyond what you know. And the test of the search is really in the things themselves, the things you seek to understand. What is important is not what you think about them, but how they enlarge you."
