Cristina de Middel’s series ‘This Is What Hatred Did’ (2015) reimagines Amos Tutola’s surreal novel ‘My Life In The Bush of Ghosts’ (1954) through staged, atmospheric photographs set in the floating sum of Makoko, Lagos. By blending the original text with constructed imagery, she creates a hybrid narrative that blurs the line between documentary and fiction, illuminating contemporary Nigerian life through a myth-inflected lens. Presented in collaboration with Magnum Photos.
